I am enclosing some photos of your favorite
ARR engine in 1-1/2 scale!! The 3015 is a 1-1/2 scale model that was scratchbuilt
by Mike McClure of Nashua NH. The unit is battery powered by (I believe) four
6 volt deep cycle batteries.The unit has sound (speaker in the bottom of fuel
tank) and it has working headlights, strobe lights and working fans. Rumor
has it that this model cost over $20,000 to build.
I took the photos at the Bedford Boomers train show held on November 8th in
Bedford NH. Mike lays out a loop of track in the parking lot and gives free
rides.
This unit would have looked great on the old Alaska Railroad Live Steamers
layout in Palmer AK.
