| I started by purchasing a decorated IHC powered E8 B unit. I had to strip it, then wash it in detergent . I took it to the paint booth and sprayed it with Scalecoat II Silver paint. Then masked off the center stripe which turned out to be about 1/4 inch wide on the sides . As per Curt Fortenberry and Pat Durand, I wrapped the stripe about 1/16 inch (maybe a bit more) around the ends. I took it back to the paint booth to spray it with Scalecoat II B & O Royal Blue. I gathered the decals for the project: the ARR Logo and Yellow RDC - ALASKA from Curt's passenger set, the P-7 number for the sides and smaller P-7 for the ends that I had made for this unit. I needed to paint one square box ( 1/4' long x 3/26 high) on both sides at each end B & O Royal Blue. Once it was dry, I decaled the unit. One thing additional was that I painted the trucks silver and the fuel tank Royal Blue as well as the end ladders. I semi-gloss coated the unit to finish it. |
