The #19400 series articulated flatcars were purchased used from British Columbia
Rail. National Steel Car (NSC) built the cars at their plant in Ontario, Canada.
These cars are able to carry 53-foot containers on all platforms. The end platforms
are able to carry two 20-foot containers / ISO tanks (better know as "Bulktainers")
or one 40, 45, 48, 53-foot can. The middle platform is able to carry only one
40, 45, 48, 53-foot can. They are able to do this because the 40-foot to 53-foot
containers all use the same holes for the twist locks.
