Baggage No. 58 resides on Second Street in Talkeetna and is privately owned by a resident. This car has been documented and photographed already though it's been several years. The car is next to the KTNA 88.9 FM radio station and has been there for many years. I have not been able to get inside and close up images as it can be challenging to reach the owner.

There is a little cabin next to the car, left side of the images that used to be rented out. To my understanding the interior of the car is mostly intact in its original condition though there are some temporary walls put up to create a couple of rooms for summer workers. Aside from the surface rust and needing new paint, the 58 is in good shape and rests on its original trucks. Sometime in the near future I will try to contact the owner to get permission for close up and interior photos.

Baggage No. 58 was rebuilt from a WWII hospital car in 1947-49 by Puget Sound Bridge and Dredging Company. The retirement date is unknown, but early 1970s is likely since it retains it's original AuRoRa scheme and was not used in MOW service. I have heard mixed dates on when it came to Talkeetna, most say early to mid 1980s. There is only one baggage car of this type left in existence and is still on the ARR roster in wreck service. This makes this the only baggage car of this type left in the original colors.

Many thanks to Mike Gerenday for sharing these photos and commentary.
