From Bernadine Prince's book, the Alaska Railroad, "The 250 by 50-foot roundhouse
at Healy was destroyed by fire on May 10, 1952. Lost in the early morning blaze
were two diesel locomotives, a large crane, and a railroad ambulance, in addition
to tools and other equipment. Alaska Railroad worker Al Wolk was injured when
he attempted to save the ambulance, and suffered burns about the face and hands."
