"The oldest building continuously
used for it's original purpose on the Alaska Railroad is the Anchorage
Freight Shed on 1st Avenue. The east end of the building has an extended
platform that is used to transfer loads from rail cars to flatbed trucks.
On February 21, 2003, box cars loaded with OSB board on the rail side were
being unloaded with a fork lift. The fork lift moved the pallet
bundles directly across the platform to load them on 40 foot flat bed trucks
on the street side. Some colorful modeling possiblities." -- Pat
