Number 562 resting somewhere. Notice the tender is full of coal and the Russell Plow in the background. The photo was taken at the Curry yard, date unknown. It was built for the U.S. Army in December 1942 by Alco. The Alaska Railroad acquired it in the 1940s and retired it November 1956. Added by Dick Mporris on 2/20/17: Here's something you can add to the ARR 562 roster photos. It's the original specs for ALCO builder's number 70431, which became 562. I'm not sure why it is listed on the form as #1362. That should be #1600, the USATC number. Since it was the first of the breed there may have been a decision to change the series of road.
