Number 1072 was one of the four remaining Alco RS-1s with cabs were reactivated inn August 1971 to relieve a power shortage.  Built in February 1943 for the U.S. Army for service in Iran, the Alaska Railroad purchased the engines and had the shroud applied in 1949.
