Photo courtesy of Jerry W. Ware collection Engineer Joe Martin posed ARR #313 for this photograph shortly after her arrival in Alaska. Builders No. 8407 came from Lima in March 1944 to become U.S. Army Transportation Corps #4074. She was retired in April of 1954 with no indication of disposition after that. This 2" X 4" print offers excellent detail of the engineers side and while the photographer is unknown, thanks to a note on the back we know who the proud engineer is. Jerry W. Ware collection. Modelers note: The Life Like Heritage series USRA O-6-0 is an excellent starting point for an HO scale version of this locomotive. The tender form and S-150 military consolidation would couple right up. Jerry W. Ware retired from the Alaska Railroad and is well known as the ARR track welder who's office was known as the Doll Shop. His father, Wayne Ware was an Alaska Railroad engineer who had a modest collection of small 2"X 4" black and white photos. Jerry has offered these for inclusion in the roster section with credit to the Jerry W. Ware Collection. While these prints are small they are first generation and all provide excellent new views and details when enlarged on your computer screen.
