Chrissy Holden says of the photo, "My parents lived in the Alaska Railroad station in Whittier previous to 1959, when they moved to Spenard. My Daddy (Ronald DeViaene) retired from the railroad in
1977."

Patrick Durand adds, "This is probably the Colorado Chapter of the NRHS charter to Whittier. In those days there was a wye at the mouth of Whittier creek where you could turn the entire passenger
train and back down to the depot."
