This GP7L was built for the US Army as number 1828 (builder number 15698) in 1951.  The Alaska Railroad purchased it in 1960. It was destroyed during the 1964 earthquake. The resulting tsunami moved the locomotive 300 feet and lodged it on its side against the Seward City Maintenance Building.
