Alaska Railroad caboose 1084 at Kansas City, Missouri on an unknown day in April 1980. This car was built by Pacific Car and Foundry Co. in March 1948 and placed in service April 1949.

So how did Alaska Railroad caboose 1084 get to Kansas City Missouri? Historian Don Marenzi says, "The MKT experienced a growth in traffic in the very late 1970's and early 1980's. They got caught short of motive power and cabooses. My understanding is that the MKT leased three Alaska Railroad cabooses numbers 1071, 1078 and 1084 for a few years in the early 1980's."
