WASILLA, ALASKA: WHERE THAT LONESOME WHISTLE BLOWS
This morning's northbound ARR Denali Star headed toward the overpass just beyond Denali Family Restaurant. Denali itself is located in the hazy mountains ahead, The Alaska Range. I had hoped that when the back observation deck on the second of the two Wilderness Express Bear cars tagging along behind rolled into sight someone would be standing on it.
Maybe a silver-haired woman wearing a red coat, like the one I photographed two summers but from too far away. Perhaps a man with a cowboy hat the wind had just snatched off his head and hurled toward my lens, or a pet tiger with his human caretaker at his side.
Alas, there was no one.
Please note the tour bus slightly to the right of the overpass.
The tourist season has most definitely begun.
