Manny!

Manny!

Whenever I took a shot here I just wanted to yell "Mannnnnyyy!" Do you feel the same way looking at it? If you know, you know...

Anyway, here again is the Anchorage to Whittier 120S freight behind a matched brace of GP40-2s in matching modern paint on a gray late winter day. They are emerging from the 5050 foot Bear Valley Tunnel at MP F5.7 on the Whittier Branch and crossing cold Placer Creek that flows into Portage Lake. The Whittier yard is only five miles ahead of them, a full half of that which will be underground as they pass through the Alaska Railroad's longest tunnel, the 2.5 mile long dual rail/road Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel.
