120S At Bird Point
Another look back 11 years and four cameras ago to the early years of my time in Alaska.
A 120S freight from Anchorage to Whittier loaded down with containers headed back to Seattle on the Alaska Marine Lines barge is lead by a GP40-2 and GP38-2 duo in two different paint schemes. They are seen at one of the most iconic and easily accessible spots along the railroad looking down from the Seward Hwy overpass right at MP 81.
Beyond the train some low clouds hang over the blue water of Turnagain Arm that sees the world's second highest tides that can reach 40 feet! Across the Arm (really a bay or more of a fjord) rise the peaks of the Kenai Mountains.
