A Simple PORTrait
Just a simple portrait on a clear fall day as an Alaska Railroad GP38-2 goes about its chores in the Port of Anchorage. 2001 was acquired second hand in 1986 having been built in January 1977 as Butte, Anaconda and Pacific 107.
This sign is inside the secure port area but as a railroad manager with a TWIC card and port access at the time I was able to get to this location for a photograph of the relatively new sign. Since this shot was taken the sign has changed at least twice and the Port of Anchorage was rebranded the Port of Alaska despite still being owned by the municipality.
