Wednesday, 16 October 2024: Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) Fairbanks Yard Job makes a hitch onto a string of ARRC tanks labeled "Fire Suppression Water" just past MP-H4 on the Airport Branch. These cars have been stored in Fairbanks Yard for the last few years and now are being moved to the Airport Branch for storage as yard space is getting limited in Fairbanks. One would assume that once upon a time these were used to help battle some of the many wildfires that breakout in the last frontier every year. Today however there were no fires around as fire season is long gone and it appears winter is here to stay with fresh snow covering the ground. The crew has 3006 for power today, a GP40-2 locomotive built new for the railroad in 1975 that still sports the classic Alaska Railroad black and gold paint.
