Not too many freights run north from Seward these days but on Tuesday we ran a Frac Sand train north from the Port of Seward. The sand was delivered in Super Sacks and loaded onto 89' Flatcars for the move north. Seen here rejoining civilization after climbing through the Kenai Mountains. The section of rail from Moose Pass to Portage is one of the most rugged on the Alaska Railroad. With grades approaching 3%, along with 5 tunnels, makes it an impressive piece of the Alaska Railroad. 5/26/20
