Photograph courtesy of Frank Keller Cook Inlet This view shows how close the Alaska Railroad is to Cook Inlet. This view shows an arriving freight from Whittier entering Anchorage Yard at CP 1140. The tracks to the left are the passenger mains as well as the OVL Spur. In the background is Cook Inlet which basically laps against the railroad at high tide. Also in the background is the Alaska Range in Western Alaska and out of view to the right is the Port of Anchorage. To the left, also out of view, is downtown Anchorage.
