Desired Subject My goal last night was to capture a shot of a spool car for the marketing department for use in an upcoming trade show. Mind you I have been trying to do this since the beginning of the year. Early in the year most traveled at night or while I was working. I captured a few low light images as well as some static shots but they were hopeful for something better. Last night I saw that the spool car that had arrived Whittier on Wednesday would be on the outbound train Thursday night. Scheduled to make the 2020 window through the Whittier Tunnel. At my house in South Anchorage it was a beautiful day and the 50 mile drive to Portage which is normally 45 minutes took 30 minutes longer due to road construction. I arrived at Portage about 2015 with time to spare. Unfortunately the train would depart Whittier on the 2050 window arriving in Portage after the clouds had rolled in resulting in this shot. I had hopes of more shots as I could see the sun was still shining towards Anchorage. In order to make that happen I would need to get lucky with traffic. Alas, that didn't happen as it took me almost three hours to get home and the train blasted by me at Brookman leaving me with just this shot. Taken on July 23, 2020
