While perhaps not as dramatic as some cities, Anchorage does
have a respectable, and scenic skyline. In early morning and late evenings
in summer the sun is far to the north illuminating the railroad with the
city behind it. It has been a favored backdrop for me for many years.
Here are a couple images from the evening of June 6, 2008. These were all
taken from the public road. Behind me were hundreds of fisherman busily
dragging salmon out of Ship Creek.
While taking these pictures it finally dawned on me that it was close to
midnight and I needed to drive to Seward in the morning.
I like the ducks in the foreground of the 1553 shot. I’ll defer to
the experts, but it looks like the 1553 has a slightly different style road
number.
