Wobbling Thru The Weeds By this date the MP15s had been placed in storage for sale but trains still rolled on this rickety branch line (and still do!) A nice late spring day finds a yard job GP38-2 2005 (built by EMD as a straight GP38 in August 1969 as PC 7752) trundling along the weedy right of way of the APU Spur in the Ship Creek Industrial area in downtown Anchorage. A few years later this just over mile long spur got some upgrades that saw some switches removed, others replaced, and second hand rail laid. The rails were pulled out of the mud and even ballast was laid and it kinda changed the feel of it....while that was good for the railroad I like to remember it this way.
