Bold Indeed
A pair of GP38-2s rest in the Anchorage Yard both adorned in the 1980s 'Alaska Bold' scheme. The Alaska Railroad's small fleet of 2000 hp geeps was acquired second hand in 1986 early in the state ownership era. ARR 2004 and 2005 were both rebuilt for straight GP38s originally built for the Penn Central as numbers 7773 and 7752 in September and August 1969 respectively and have spent far more of their lives in Alaska than on their original home rails of PC and Conrail.
