Generally I don't have any forewarning when ARR equipment comes through town. Often times locomotives are handled by the BNSF but I've seen them on the UP as well. So whenever I bag an ARR locomotive in Seattle it's just pure luck.
Such was the case on this wintery Saturday morning. The slides are dated Feb 2001, so it was probably shortly before then that these pictures were taken. Some ARR units leave the Great Land never to return, but these lucky loco's did make it back, albeit in the new paint scheme.
This trio was seen at the BNSF Stacy Street yard in South Seattle's SODO District. Starbucks headquarters looms in the background of some of these shots.
