Alaska had a decent sized earthquake 11/30/2018.

The half moon piece just below the coil springs (this sits on top of the wheel set bearing) is suppose to be centered up with the ramp with the green X’s.

This wheel was chalked tight. The locomotive actually pushed the chalk along the rail as it bounced with the quake.

The backshop bathroom

This beam located in the backshop bathroom holds the old sanding tower. It had some broken welds and was barely hanging on.

This pic is from the “pit” located in the diesel shop/round house. The pit is a below grade area to allow mechanics to inspect the locomotive under carriage. This is showing the engineer side fuel tank and the filler neck.
On both sides of locomotives are fuel tanks and all the tanks have a fill neck with a red cap. During the earthquake the locomotives rocked so violently that ALL the fuel fill caps shattered from striking the concrete ramp edge.
