Curt Lind
Curtis Herbert Lind first went to Alaska in 1948 at age 19 and stayed in a Quonset hut in Anchorage with a friend from Minnesota. He served in Korea from October 1952 until April 1953 and received the Purple Heart. He married Darlene Sandstrom in May 1953. He attended the University of Minnesota for his B.S. and UMD for his Masters in Safety. Curt and Darlene went back to Alaska in 1978 until 1985 when they were installing the gas pipeline. Curt traveled throughout the state doing safety inspections while Darlene was a contracting officer for the Alaska area health service. They made their home on the side of the mountain in Eagle River. Click here to begin photo gallery. Special thanks goes to Darlene Lind for providing these images.
