Thursday 27 September 2023: Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) Fairbanks Yard Job heads railroad North to the end of the line at Eielson AFB. Here they are passing over the Chena River and Lakes Flood Control Project at MP G20 on the ARRC's Eielson Branch. 3003 and 2006 power the train with the Track Geometry Car on the head pin and 18 loads of black diamonds bound for Eielson's Central Heat and Power plant bringing up the rear. Eielson is home to the 354th Fighter Wing and employs 2 GP40-2 locomotives to handle all switching duties on the bases rail network. This would be 3003's last trip North to Eielson as new power would be rotated in the following week.
